Lock Delay on FroYo

Those that have installed early pre-release builds of FroYo have discovered that Lock Delay does not work correctly any more.

Unfortunately, Lock Delay is not and may never be FroYo compatible. In Android 2.2, changes were made to some of the system settings APIs that were used by Lock Delay. The setting for enabling and disabling the pattern lock is now read-only for non-root processes. Infact, Lock Delay doesn't even show up on the Market when you search from a FroYo device because of the API incompatibility.

All devices running Android versions prior to FroYo 2.2 are unaffected by this change and can continue using Lock Delay normally.

  1. Dang darn, Lock Delay was my favorite app. :)

Is there any way to make a version that works on rooted devices?

  3. This is terrible news, I love this app!

You said, "The setting for enabling and disabling the pattern lock is now read-only for non-root processes."

Would it be possible to have a version that works for rooted devices?

  4. I just got it installed on my SAMSUNG GALAXY S on 2.1 OS.

It is working well now I can have a delay before the lock kicks in. Well worth it. I am telling my friends to get it.

Hope you can get it to work on Froyo. I don't mind to pay more for an app I user EVERYTIME I turn on my device. Seriously.

Please please PLEASE do what you can to help me week this to get it to work

  8. I do not use the pattern lock, I have Lock Delay set for simple keyguard. It is working perfectly in this fashion on my Samsung Captivate running Froyo. I do not know if it is working simply because I am using keyguard rather than pattern lock, or if it is working because my phone is rooted.

  9. I see some apps have gotten themselves marked as Administrator. Wouldn't that work for Lock Delay, also?
